Person-centred and Psychodynamic Counselling will enable the client to explore aspects of their life and feelings openly and freely in a safe and confidential space and gives the client the opportunity to express difficult feelings such as anger, resentment, guilt, fear, anxiety and many more feelings. The counsellor encourages the client to examine parts of their lives that they have found difficult.
There may be some exploration of past childhood/young adulthood issues that may be triggering unconscious processes that are manifesting in the client’s reactions and behaviours in the ‘here and now’. The exploration of past childhood/young adulthood issues together with developing a clearer understanding can help the client to create positive changes in their attitudes and behaviours.
The aim of counselling is to enable the client to make their own choices, make their own decisions and act upon them to move themselves forward in life.
