Health and Well-Being Coaching

A Health Coach is a supportive mentor to enable you to make long-term positive health changes via good advice, motivation and support. Health Coaching focuses on disease prevention and total body health. As a Health Coach my role is to support you to:

  • improve your health and happiness
  • change your habits
  • empower you to take ownership of your health
  • focus on your goals
  • assess where you are and what you would like to achieve
  • plan how to achieve your goals in easy steps
  • become an advocate for your own well-being

Health coaching can help you with a variety of health issues such as weight loss, stress reduction, the management of chronic conditions, improving diet and exercise, tobacco cessation, addictions (e.g. alcohol, drugs, sugar), improve blood pressure, reduce cholesterol, better blood sugar control for diabetes and adjusting to a life-altering health event such as cancer related illness, medical illness, surgery, recovery and many more issues and in making changes following health coaching evidence suggests that there will be an improvement in your overall confidence.

A typical structure that incorporates flexibility in accordance to the client’s needs tends to involve the following:-

  1. Develop realistic health-related goals and action plan
  2. Set health coaching goals and action plan
  3. Set agenda for review meetings
  4. Accountability checks to monitor progress
  5. Progress reviews
  6. Assessment of blocks & successes
  7. Re-evaluation of needs & re-focus to set client up for success

Goal orientated tasks empowers clients to develop coping skills and become competent and confident in dealing with their presenting problems.
